SOURCE compares what a product record already holds with the evidence still required. Missing, expired, unscoped or unpermissioned items stay visible.

Retrieve what exists
Existing files, certificates and prior disclosures are attached to the record when identity, scope and permission allow. SOURCE does not invent values.

Prepare targeted requests
Where evidence is still missing, SOURCE prepares a scoped request for the responsible supplier or internal owner. Uncertain identities remain visible instead of being guessed.

Resolve with evidence
Returned evidence is recorded with provenance. Decline, silence, delegation, permission denial and unresolved outcomes are first-class results — not hidden failures.

Scoped disclosure, not guaranteed response performance.
A supplier request in SOURCE is a controlled ask. It can be answered, declined, delegated, marked uncertain, or left unresolved.
- Requests name the product identity, the claim, and the evidence sought — not an open dump of supplier files.
- Delegation is recorded. A downstream mill or recycler can become the responding party without hiding the chain.
- Uncertainty is a valid outcome. SOURCE does not convert a missing answer into implied coverage.
- Declined requests, permission denials, and no-response outcomes stay visible to the manufacturer.

A recorded number is not ready for reuse until identity, scope, permission, and validity are also recorded — and conflicts or unresolved outcomes remain visible.
Traceability
A value is only useful if it can be followed to a record, a document, and an actor. SOURCE stores that path.
Scope
Evidence applies to a stated product, period, market or purpose. Out-of-scope documents do not close a gap.
Permission
Reuse is never implicit. A supplier or owner decides who may use the evidence, for what, and whether that grant still holds.
Validity
Certificates expire. SOURCE keeps validity dates visible. Expired evidence does not pass the validity gate.
Conflicts
Two documents can disagree. Conflicting values stay open until a human reviews them. SOURCE does not pick a winner in silence.
Unresolved outcomes
No response, a decline, or an uncertain owner is a recorded outcome. The record stays UNRESOLVED until the applicable gates pass.

SOURCE is the evidence desk beside the systems you already run.
Catalogues stay in PIM. Engineering stays in PLM. Passports, when you publish them, stay in a DPP platform. SOURCE holds the evidence trail those systems cannot resolve on their own — including the cases that do not resolve.
